Is it Outsider Time?

For a year now I have been tracking the “non-candidacy” of Michael Bloomberg for President. On July 12 of last year I started a web site devoted just to his candidacy (or non candidacy). You can go back and track with me or just start now. The bottom line is that Michael was in Texas this past weekend drumming up “non-support”. But here’s the latest rhetoric on Mr. Bloomberg, the ultimate outsider!

Bloomberg, who says he’s not running for president, chose delegate-rich California from which to deliver a scorching assessment of Washington for failing to keep up with the need for new airports, roads, water systems and bridges across America. While China and other nations are investing heavily in ports and high- speed trains “Washington doesn’t have a plan” to address crumbling U.S. infrastructure, Bloomberg said.

Las Vegas odds-makers still aren’t yet betting on Bloomberg. He’s a natural 8 the hardway!

Here’s the one time been a Democrat, and then the Republican mayor of New York, now an independent mayor of New York. How could he be a Republican and running on a third party ticket? And while everyone in both parites are claiming to be the candidate of CHANGE, Bloomberg would truly represent CHANGE!

In remarks clearly aimed at a national audience, the mayor said politics trumps common sense in Congress, where pork-barrel spending takes priority. Washington “spends money to win votes,” Bloomberg said. “It’s hurting our country.”

The Democrat-turned-Republican-turned-independent mayor appeared with Govs. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California, a Republican, and Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania, a Democrat, to announce a coalition that would push for more investment in ports, highways and other infrastructure. Both governors are known for reaching across party lines to achieve compromise. Standing at a transit station with the governors, Bloomberg said that independent and nonpartisan solutions were needed.

Schwarzenegger was asked if he was staying neutral in the presidential race to see if Bloomberg would jump in, and he answered that he did plan to make an endorsement. And Bloomberg is NOT a candidate. Hey, we’re not stupid. We know the political game.

It was the second day of a trip that also took Bloomberg to Texas, another key state on the presidential election map where he met privately Friday with an expert in third-party ballot access who served as campaign manager for H. Ross Perot. In an era when the public views government with suspicion and loathing, the billionaire mayor appears to be honing an image as an innovative problem-solver working outside the partisan scrum of Washington politics.

Bloomberg has been quietly polling and analyzing voting trends in every state as he contemplates launching a campaign. On Tuesday, his supporters launched a 50-state petition drive in an attempt to draft him into the race.

My bet is that the draft works! He’s the ultimate outsider!

Rodney Crowell Outsider Rock Music CD Review

The exceptionally talented Rock artist Rodney Crowell has released him CD entitled Outsider. I am very confident and happy to announce that I believe Rodney Crowell fans, and Rock fans alike will be pleased with this one. With the release of Outsider Rodney Crowell’s artistic excellence is on full display as Crowell has once again delivered a brilliant collection of tracks that could very well be him best work to date.

Refreshingly, this was one of those CDs I was able to just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

Rodney Crowell possesses the characteristic of being able to win you over with him talent alone. The kind of artist I really enjoy listening to.

Listen to Outsider and I believe you’ll find there’s not much to dis-like about it. The songs are inspired, the production is simply outstanding, and Rodney Crowell is clearly in top form. So much so that if you’re even mildly into Rock music you’ll enjoy this album.

While the entire album is really very good the truly standout tunes are track 6 – Don’t Get Me Started, track 9 – Things That Go Bump In The Day, and track 11 – We Can’t Turn Back.

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 – Say You Love Me. It’s a great track!

Team Building Events

Our creative team building events are listed below to stimulate your thinking but they are by no means set in stone. We have rarely run the same event twice so tell us which events you like and we will customise a day’s activities just for you.All of our team building events are based outdoors in the fantastic setting of Eastnor Castle estate.

Our events are goal orientated, engaging and are designed to enhance workplace skills building on the performance of an individual and the team.It is very important to us that your day is rewarding, purposeful, inclusive, collaborative and fun with everyone feeling that they have achieved a personal goal and gained knowledge.

From cookery to photography, from pioneering to communication, from mentally stimulating giant puzzles to adrenalin packed high and low ropes challenges.

Wilderness Cooking

Take a breath of fresh air and come to a different type of culinary team build day. The ‘kitchen’ is situated in the woods around the Castle where you will learn about outdoor and survival cooking such as roasting food over a fire, fire pits, stews and smoking fish.The locally sourced produce will provide the basis for your team to work in groups to produce a meal in an environment, which they have probably never experienced before. It is a group challenge and regardless of how skilled you are in the kitchen at home, nature’s kitchen is a different ball game and a new challenge.

The team will work towards a three course meal, which they will all get to enjoy at the end of the day. The activity is designed to focus on communication skills, leadership, creativity and initiative whist being fun and tasty!

Picture Perfect

This event uses photography to highlight to teams the importance of working together and how each individual role contributes to the team or organisation as a whole.

The participants are given cameras and given the task of creating a large photographic mosaic of the whole team. This requires careful planning and communication as well as group management. The teams will also have to tackle some collaborative tasks in order to complete the challenge successfully. It allows for many skills to come to the fore and does not require all participants to be overly active. The group will leave with a memory of the day, which will act as a reminder of how they can achieve an objective by working closely together.

Creative Expression

Set your creativity free with this activity that is designed to promote free expression whilst developing or enhancing individual and group creativity.

This is not an art course but a team building event situated in the Castle grounds, which uses natural materials found on the estate to create pieces of art. To be successful the participants need to work together in small groups, by planning, using their initiative and managing the flow of ideas. The final challenge is to create a giant picture as one large group with just the natural materials around them and of course their imagination.

The Venue

Outside are exclusively based at Eastnor Castle, which is situated in the Malvern Hills, an area of natural beauty. The Castle offers a venue packed with prestige, high quality facilities for meetings, accommodation and dining, all of which create a special and memorable experience.

The Estate provides 5,000 acres of varied terrain and Outside work with the natural topography of the land to involve underground and tree-top activities with everything in between.Using the surrounding environment and natural elements we are able to create team building days that are invigorating, inspiring and best of all a real break from the city and the office environment.

Whilst the venue is situated in the heart of the countryside it is only ten minutes from the national motorway network. The Castle is 2½ miles east of Ledbury on the A438 Tewkesbury road.
